| Camaiore and its origin
| |
| The history of Camaiore dates back to 190 a.C., when the romans, once they set up Lucca, decided to build some fortifications at Mountain Prana's feet. These fortifications were called Colonial Lucensis, they arose in a flat area (Campus Maior)and became soon a colonial site, from which Camaiore developed. After the Fall of the Roman Empire, the territory was victim of many barbaric invasions. |
| In 1847 Lucca became a part of Tuscany Grand Duchy, under the reign of Leopoldo II, and in 1860 it became a part of the United Reign of Italy. |
